The Township of Plummer Additional, which contains the Hamlet of Desbarats, is located along the Trans-Canada Highway 17, approximately 60 km east of Sault Ste. Marie.  Nestled along the beautiful North Channel of Lake Huron, which is sprinkled with many small islands and attractive bays, it has been an attraction to summer visitors for over a century.

The Township of Plummer Additional is also home to several lovely freshwater lakes, providing refreshing waterside summer and all-year residences to locals and visitors alike; a vibrant agricultural community, including a summer Farmers' Market supported by the Local Mennonite community; and a natural environment that is home to a thriving wildlife population.   

The Hamlet of Desbarats is home to the regional Central Algoma secondary School, several of the main area businesses and an Arena.  The school serves a large area including towns and rural areas from Thessalon to St. Joseph Island and Echo Bay. 

The Arena is a regional hub for hockey, figure skating, curling and many other winter recreation activities.  As well, The Voyageur Trail and a major Snowmobile Trail pass through the Township.
